With over 30 years of practice in Tai Chi Chuan and a Master's degree in Secondary Education; B.S. Summa Cum Laude, Patricia Lawson is a lifelong martial artist and educator whose mission is to make Tai Chi accessible, enjoyable, and transformative for participants of all ages and abilities.
Patricia additionally holds a 2nd degree black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu, has extensive experience in Mas Oyama's Kyokushinkai Karate, and 7 years experience with Horan Judo. At the International Chinese Martial Arts Competition 2001, she was a Gold and Silver medalist (Sun Style Tai Chi Chuan; Yang 24).
Patricia has studied directly with Dr. Paul Lam, founder of the Tai Chi for Health Institute, and since 2003 has been a Master Trainer at both student and instructor levels for the various programs presented through the Institute, including Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Preventions, TCAFP2, Tai Chi for Diabetes, Tai Chi for Energy, Tai Chi for Heart Conditions, Tai Chi for Kidz, Tai Chi for Life, Tai Chi for Osteoporosis, and Tai Chi for Rehabilitation.
She also teaches a wide range of Tai Chi forms and styles — including Yang, Sun, Chen, and Sword. While residing in Florida Patricia regularly shared her knowledge at Cleveland Clinic’s Medical Fitness Facility and from 2017 to 2019 was a presenter for Vyne/PESI Continuing Education, conducting continuing education training for physical therapists, occupational therapists, RNs and psychologists throughout the USA. She now teaches in-person classes in the Austin, Texas area and online via Zoom, as well as conducting in-person workshops both nationally and internationally.
In addition to teaching, Patricia serves on the international Tai Chi for Health Institute Board of Directors and is the Chairman of the Education and Training Committee. She is also the Secretary of the Board of the International Medical and Taiji Qigong Association.
